Matt grew up in the Great Northwest and enjoys a rich heritage as a 6th generation Oregonian. The grandson of one of the original members of the MRA's Precursor, MORESCO, Matt grew up learning rope and knot craft. He joined the local Search And Rescue in High School and has continued as an active SAR member for the last 20 years.
Today, Matt hones his skills as the Lead Instructor for Crux Rescue LLC and the training officer for the Camp Sherman Hasty Team. He has also served as the lead Tech and Warehouse Manager for Rescue Response Gear.
Most days he can be found studying the physics of complex rope systems, logging inventory and answering questions about unique rigging needs.
In his free time, Matt is an avid rafter and outdoorsman. He was a guest lecturer at SARCon 2011 and is the recipient of the Toni Foster Award for Search and Rescue in Jefferson County.
