J Brett Turnbull
J Brett Turnbull has more than fifteen years of overseas operations and training that has accumulated him a wide range of operational field experience. He served five years active duty in the United States Navy and gained experience as a team leader in forward operating units in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines. Under these sustained combat conditions he has learned the value of team work and training as a cohesive unit. He has participated in large scale disaster relief operations; spending a large portion of his free time volunteering with various agencies in developing countries such as Kenya, Laos and Haiti. He prides himself on being a professional that can work with teams of various levels of experience and background while safely and effectively accomplishing the objective.
J Brett is a Rescue 3 International instructor for water rescue and rope rescue courses, Level Two Technician in the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association and a Wilderness First Responder through the Wilderness Medical Society. J Brett is also certified as a Competent Person for the inspection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Mountaineering and work at height by Petzl's V.axess Institute. Since becoming a full-time instructor, he has trained thousands of students in over eight countries and participated in large international exercises such as the RIMPAC. Some of the agencies trained include the U.S.Coast Guard, U.S. National Guard, Klamath County Search and Rescue, Dynamic Security and foreign agencies such as the Belize National Defense Force, the Abu Dhabi Police Department and Emirates Industrial Laboratories.
Phil Turnbull has thirty-five years in emergency services, with twenty-two of those as fire chief in Josephine county, Oregon. He serves as the Director of Curriculum Development for Rescue 3 International, is the author of numerous training manuals and articles, and has traveled worldwide both as an Instructor Trainer and consultant.
Phil has always been active in community service, currently serving Josephine County as co-chair on the Emergency Management Board and on the Search & Rescue Executive Board.
Professional memberships include the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the National Fire Protection Association and a life membership in the Oregon Fire Chief's Association. In 2000 he received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Josephine County Emergency Medical Services Board.
He and his wife Lynn have been married for 32 years, and have raised six children, three through foreign adoption. In his spare time he enjoys rafting and hiking with his children.
Donald Cooper has over 25 years experience with EMS and Fire Rescue. He took his first Introduction to Rope Rescue in 1994 and has since become an instructor in both Water and Rope Rescue for Rescue 3 International. He is the current Program Specialist for American Medical Response in Josephine County and is responsible for specialized rescue and trainings for AMR. He is currently working on his Foundation Degree through Rescue 3 International and UCLAN. His hobbies include spending time with his family, backpacking, rafting, trail horse riding and camping in the wilderness.
Annette Cooper has over 20 years experience with EMS and Fire Rescue. She is the former Program Specialist for American Medical Response Josephine County; responsible for specialized rescue and training. Annette currently works full-time with Rural Metro Fire, Josephine County, where she is responsible for Technical Rope and Water Rescue standards and training. She is a Water and Rope Rescue Instructor with Rescue 3 International and is currently pursuing her Foundation Degree through Rescue 3 International and UCLAN. Her hobbies include being a part-time Paramedic for AMR, fitness instructor for Club Northwest, spending time with her family, backpacking, hiking, trail horse riding, horse breeding and camping in the wilderness.
